Agricultural recovery of urban sewage sludge
We secured the fields and the agreements with the farmers, carried out the soil sampling and the soil and sludge analyses, obtained the permit from the Regional Committee, and organised transport and spreading under the terms of those permits. After application, further soil measurements to check for any accumulation.
The same work was carried out on a small scale for the Katerini water utility, 400 tonnes in 2016.
The service, in which we hold a depth of expertise rare in Greece, remains available to public and municipal water and sewerage utilities, and to biogas plants that need to manage the digestate they produce.
